Nursery - Year 4 are treated to Sophy's wonderful imagination
Ahead of World Book Day, our children were lucky enough to receive a visit from Sophy Henn, an award-winning author and illustrator.
Sophy ran sessions with children from Nursery all the way up to Year 4. The children took part in ‘draw alongs,’ where they followed the same instructions and still managed to create “brilliantly unique” characters.

They also had the opportunity to learn an enormous number of fun facts from Sophy, who had incredible knowledge about animals. Pupils could not believe that the most successful predator is a dragon fly, that a giraffe's tongue is between 40-50cm long or that the smallest bird, the Bee Hummingbird, flaps its wings 800 times every ten seconds.
When reporting on their experience meeting Sophy, Reception children commented:
“She was very kind”
“She was very good at drawing”
“She was funny”
The smiles beaming out from the photographs speak volumes. Our children are so very lucky to be able to meet with such talented and creative people. We thank Sophy for being brilliantly energetic, inspiring and positive all day!
