Entry Points

As a non-selective independent school in West Sussex, we ensure that every child thrives by giving them the encouragement and support that’s right for them.

Every pupil is treated as an individual, growing in confidence through inspiring lessons and rich co-curricular experiences.

Westbourne House Private School Admission Points

While September is our main intake, we welcome new pupils throughout the year (subject to availability). The process can take as little as one day.

If you are enquiring from abroad, please visit Overseas Admissions.

Nursery (ages 2–4)

Our youngest learners follow their curiosity, build a love of nature, grow more confident in their independence and spend a lot of time outside.

Many Nursery children stay for a home-cooked lunch and use our wraparound care. The minimum attendance is three mornings a week for the youngest children, rising to four per week in their final nursery year.

Pre-Prep (ages 4–7)

Children continue to learn through play, exploration and hands-on experiences in the Pre-Prep.  Outdoor learning remains central and our wonderful teachers bring each subject to life.

Prep School (Ages 8–13)

In Years 3–4 (ages 8&9), pupils enjoy expanded opportunities across the curriculum, including

  • Sport
  • Art
  • Drama
  • Music

Trips away from school and after-school clubs make learning exciting and memorable.

From Year 5 (age 10), subject specialist teachers inspire in every lesson - sharing a broad range of knowledge and skills and offering a wealth of experiences for the children including:

  • earning their Bunsen burner licence
  • taking part in leadership workshops
  • soldering a radio
  • speaking Spanish with a pen pal
  • thinking about future careers.

By Year 8, pupils are confident, independent thinkers, who are ready for senior school and beyond - many with scholarships and all with a spirit of curiosity and courage that lasts a lifetime.
