Student Council representatives came together to share their ideas for making school life even better. The meeting was full of fun, creative suggestions, with Mr Cousens and Mr Musson encouraging the pupils to think about how their ideas could work in practice.
After each idea was shared, everyone explored the possibilities and considered different ways of making their suggestions happen. The teachers asked questions to encourage deeper thinking.
One popular suggestion was to have more footballs available at break times, particularly some new ones. The pupils discussed a number of ways this could work, including using a number system, introducing a ball log-in and log-out system, or making use of some of the older footballs.
Another idea was giving pupils the opportunity to vote on what they would like to eat for lunch on one day. They even came up with the idea of a ‘mystery dish’, with Chef Graham creating a surprise dish for the pupils to try.
There were plenty of other imaginative suggestions too. One pupil proposed being allowed to wear home clothes on their birthday and receiving a special cupcake at lunchtime. Other ideas included fishing trips at the lake, a zip wire within the school grounds and holding Student Council meetings more regularly.
There was also some exciting news to share: Mr Musson was happy to announce that new football goals, which had already been identified by the council as something that they appreciate and would like more of, have now been ordered!
It was fantastic to see the pupils sharing their ideas so confidently and thinking carefully about how their suggestions could become a reality. We look forward to exploring these ideas further and seeing more of the pupils’ fantastic suggestions come to fruition.
