What is leadership? For our Year 7 pupils on their Leadership Day, it was learning to collaborate, listen and work as a team. What they discovered is that this isn't always easy.
As part of our commitment to providing vast leadership opportunities from Reception upwards, Year 7 took part in a dedicated Leadership Day designed to develop the skills that underpin confident, capable young people. Through a series of challenging, hands-on activities, pupils solved problems together: unpicking complex tasks, planning their approach, sharing ideas and learning through trial and error.
Along the way, they began to recognise different strengths within their teams: who naturally steps forward to lead, who offers thoughtful solutions, and who may be quieter but equally important, needing encouragement to contribute.
It was a powerful reminder that leadership is not a fixed role, but a set of behaviours that can be practised and developed. And practise they did. While not always easy, our Year 7 pupils approached the day with determination and will have learnt a lot ahead of next year's step up for further responsibilities.
