Westbourne Award - Year 5

Fun in the sun!

"We've had a super time, the Year 5 children have been on great form and we've been blessed with some lovely weather," began the message from Mr Brown, Trip Leader for Year 5's Westbourne Award.

Our Year 5 pupils spent two days on the Isle of Wight at an adventure and activity centre.

They first took part in some outdoor climbing activities, where pupils took it in turns to belay their friends while they waited to climb.

In the indoor activity centre, Mr Perry got stuck into helping the children try their hands at fencing, and the varying levels of experience among our pupils meant that everyone was able to support one another and learn from one another.

"The challenges and experiences during the last few days have allowed us all to learn more about our own strengths and celebrate the strengths in others."

"The food's been plentiful and good quality, which keeps the children fuelled and full of energy, so that's been great."

"We loved the camp fire last night, and we've got a couple more fantastic activities today before we come home."

"Upon our return, there will be some tired pupils and staff but all in all it has been absolutely fantastic and the greatest of fun," said Mr Brown on the last day of the trip.
