UK Junior Maths Challenge

In May, the majority of pupils in Years 7 and 8, and the top set of Year 6, sat the Junior Maths Challenge. This is a national competition with 300,000 pupils taking part each year.

The top 1000 pupils in the country are invited to the next stage, the Olympiad and then the next 8000 to the Kangaroo round.

This year we are very excited and proud to have four pupils making it through to the Olympiad and another four pupils to the Kangaroo round. These eight pupils sat this next round of the maths competition last week and we are still awaiting their results. It has a few years since any pupil at Westbourne House has made it through to the Olympiad and so this is a great achievement for 2019!

Congratulations to Henry Langford, Eden Littlefair, Luke Skinner and Ed Timberlake on making it through to the Olympiad.

Congratulations to Josh Barratt, Charlie Gray, Dill Howell and Leo Mazrani on making it through to the Kangaroo round.

Certificates are also awarded to top scorers: the top 6% of the students nationally receive a gold certificate and the next 13% receive a silver.

Westbourne House achieved eight silver and 12 gold certificates.

Congratulations to all those pupils who took part in the Maths Challenge.
