U14 Chess in Butler Cup

Our chess quartet - Euan, Jerry, Archie and Alfie - represented Westbourne House in the second round of the U14 Butler Cup on our World Book Dress Up Day

Mr Stewart said: "We were pitched against teams from Seaford College and Downlands Community School, Hassocks. We finished with 6.5 points with all team members contributing to our score with Jerry top scoring with 2.5 points.

"The boys from all the schools played really well and we finished second on the day which was a creditable showing given that two of the Seaford players are playing to a county/England standard. We may qualify for the final depending on other matches being played in the region - we hope to find out soon!"

It was lovely to see Old Westbournian (2019) Tom back to play at Westbourne House once again. We are delighted to hear he will shortly be playing chess for England in the Czech Republic.
