Shakespeare show goes on

Nothing was going to stop our incredible Year 4s performing 'An Evening of Shakespeare’ and they gave it their all. With costumes but no make-up and a film camera but no audience, they brought The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream to life beautifully, and with great gusto, in our Millennium Hall.

Director of the play, Richard Tyrrell, said: "These are ambitious pieces for Year 4 and the pupils have been impressive in their willingness to experiment with ensemble and physical theatre at such a young age. Their work on voice and characterisation will also provide a solid foundation of experience upon which to build for future performances, and indeed I hope some aspects of life. Working as a team, supporting each other and being selfless are important in character development. I would like to thank them for their hard work.”

Headmaster, Martin Barker, sent a film of the production to our Year 4 parents so they wouldn’t miss out. He said: “It is very unfortunate we were not able to run the Year 4 play as usual with a big, supportive audience, however, I think you will enjoy watching this with your child. I hope you are as proud of the children as I am.”
