What a memorable day for our Year 3 and 4 pupils, who joined other pupils at Portfield Primary School for a day full of maths, fun and a touch of magic!
Led by mathematician Andrew Jeffrey, the day combined engaging maths games, problem-solving and fantastic tips on becoming a more efficient mathematician.
A particular highlight was the MATHE-MAGICIAN, a joyful reminder that maths can be as creative as it is logical.
"I loved the magic because I was called up to be part of the trick.”
Year 3 pupil
“I found the magic tricks at the end AMAZING! I had no idea how he did them!” Year 3 pupil.
“It was really fun and my mind was completely boggled!
Year 4 pupils
"I picked up a really good tip for finding number bonds!” Year 4 pupil.
"I was lost for words. It was just incredible." Year 4 pupil.
The key message throughout the day was clear: not knowing the answer, and being willing to get stuck, is an essential and valuable part of learning. This chimes beautifully with our approach to learning at Westbourne House. Thank you to Portfield Primary for the opportunity to join in the fun and learning.
