Inter-Patrol Music Competition

There was no better way to kick off half term than with a recorder competition, feast of ensembles and patrol singing.

Our Inter-Patrol Music Competition gives every pupil the chance to sing in a choir and experience the joy of community singing and performing, and the ensemble competition encourages those learning instruments to play music with others and practice their performance skills. A perfect mix of concentration and big smiles in our picture gallery says it all - it’s Westbourne House through and through.

Year 3 Inter-Patrol Recorder Competition

Our Year 3 pupils stepped up to represent their patrols and perform in front of an audience, at the much anticipated Inter-Patrol Music competition.

Thank you to our Deputy Head Academic, Barbara Langford, who judged all six classes. She said: "There were some absolutely lovely performances and it was difficult to have to pick a winner in each class. It is not easy to get up and perform and their resilience and perseverance was impressive. It takes real guts to perform.”

Our Director of Music, Mr Dichmont, said: “It was wonderful to see all the Year 3 pupils enjoying it and playing with such confidence. The children did not seem at all nervous playing to a big audience and we look forward to excellent performances from them all, over the next few years.”

Ensembles and Inter-Patrol Songs

“Everyone was great tonight and gave us a truly memorable music evening full of creativity.”

Director of Music, Mr Dichmont

At the end of the recorder competition, our Panther patrol had just edged into the lead. Next up our musicians played in the ensembles and every pupil sang brilliantly in the closely-fought Inter Patrol song competition. Panthers won the singing, and in a rarely-seen draw, the Panthers and the Tigers were the competition overall winners.

“It was great fun! Wall to wall smiling all evening. It finished with the Panthers turning off the lights and waving fluorescent colourful wands! Amazing.”
