A cracking time in our Nursery

The school's ducklings have hatched

The arrival of the duck eggs and the hatching of the ducklings is always one of the highlights of the nursery year and this year has been no different. The children love to interact with animals and it teaches them so much about care and respect. The anticipation waiting for the eggs to hatch was immense!

"The children have become confident in handling the ducklings, caring for them and observing their antics. Watching them hatch and grow is fascinating."

Mrs Watson, Head of Nursery

The ducklings spark so much conversation; lots of new vocabulary, such as incubator, pipping and webbed feet, are now commonplace in the classroom. This experience also encourages the children to discuss their own behaviour, from their eating habits to their swimming lessons.

"Sadly, we always have to say goodbye, but the children learn so much during this short period of time not just about animals, but about respect and nurture."

Mrs Watson, Head of Nursery
