Bring Your Pet to School Day

Did you know that our furry friends are proven to boost our mental health? Our Bring Your Pet to School Day brought a lot of fun, smiles and a happy spirit to the last day before half term.

Mrs Pollock, who leads our pastoral care, said: “The children were super excited to bring their much-loved pets to their lessons today. My favourite part of the day was looking through the photographs the children posted showing how their pets looked like their owners! It sparked lots of creativity.”

A pupil in Year 6, who doesn’t have a pet, added: "I loved seeing everyone's pets! They were sooo cute. It was a brilliant day."

There were three competitions throughout the day with Mrs Whincop acting as judge!  We are pleased to announce the following winners:

CUTEST CLASS PETS went to 8M and its pet stars included an utterly cute three-week-old puppy and very beautiful cat!

CAN YOUR PET DO YOUR JOB? went to Lydia's enthusiastic dog who was having a conference work call with other dogs!  Honourable mentions to Mr Allingham's fire and police ponies and Mr Dichmont's choir masters!

Miss Barrow, Spanish teacher, commented: “There were some very clever ideas created by those pupils who don’t have pets such as a chicken door stop pet and an origami whale! The children shared some great pet stories… the dog which ate the whole roast chicken, another which ‘ran away’ only to be found sleeping on the bed upstairs and escapee hamsters being found in wellies, speakers and the bin! It was a great idea and the smiles on their faces said it all.”

One pupil introduced her rescue dog: “This is our three-legged dog. His name is Marti and he got run over as a stray. We give him a lovely life in the Sussex countryside”. We met lots of other dogs too plus chickens, hamsters, Guinea pigs, cats, alpacas, horses, ponies… as well as some gorgeous cuddly animals.

What a wonderful, happy, sparky way to round off the half term. Well done to all our pupils, parents and staff: you have all done absolutely brilliantly so far this term.
