How did you hear about the Open Morning?

Childhood is discovery, adventure and joy

Choosing a school is about more than results. It’s about a feeling. Visit and you’ll quickly see what makes us different.

A place where children are encouraged to be brave, not perfect.

To question, explore and think for themselves.

A happy, ambitious place where imagination roams, friendship grows and childhood is truly valued.

Come and see it for yourself. Book your place at our Open Morning on 3 October 2026 or book a personal tour.

Why visit Westbourne House?

Think.

Every lesson invites curiosity - puzzling through a problem, debating a viewpoint or discovering new connections - helping your child grow into a thoughtful, confident and independent thinker.

Thrive.

You’ll watch your child take risks, try new things and keep going when it’s tricky, learning more about themselves with every challenge.

Trailblaze.

From creative projects and public speaking competitions to collaborative challenges, your child will practise life skills every day. Our pupils don't just move on to brilliant senior schools, they move up, ready to make their mark on the world.

My children have had their confidence, resilience and curiosity for learning really nurtured and these are the strengths that will stay with them and take them into their adult life.

An idyll of all that is enchanting in childhood – Westbourne House has managed to bottle that elusive formula of what makes a prep school perfect: not too big, a small family feel, and yet an immensely large site, fizzing energy and, oh yes, top-drawer academics.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from an Open Morning?

Our Open Mornings are designed to give you a genuine feel for life at Westbourne House.

You’ll have the chance to meet our Headmaster, who leads the whole school and sets its vision and direction, alongside our Head of Pre-Prep and Juniors, who brings specialist expertise in the early years and lower school. Together, they ensure every child is known, supported and thrives.

You will also meet our teachers and members of our Senior Leadership Team and enjoy a guided tour led by our Year 7 & 8 pupils. Along the way, you’ll see children taking part in activities - art, music, drama, science - explore our facilities and, most importantly, get a sense of the warmth, energy and values that shape our community.

Will I be able to speak to pupils and staff?

Yes. One of the most valuable parts of the morning is the opportunity to talk directly with both pupils and staff. Our children lead the tours and are always happy to share their experiences, while teachers and senior staff are on hand throughout to answer any questions you may have.

Do I need to prepare anything before I visit?

Not at all. We will ask you beforehand if there is anything you particularly are interested in, and if you have any specific questions about academics, pastoral care, co-curricular opportunities or admissions, our team will be very happy to help on the day.

I live in London – is it worth visiting?

Absolutely. We are a day and boarding school. Some of our families are based in London with their child enjoying weekly boarding. Others live locally and commute to the city, whilst enjoying the space, fresh air and coastline that Chichester and West Sussex offers. These families choose Westbourne House for a different pace of life, the chance of a true childhood, alongside an outstanding education.

Visiting in person is the best way to understand how this balance works in practice.

As one former London parent put it: “The children were not at high-pressure schools in London and yet at Westbourne House the school system is more relaxed, which is not to say the standards are lower. It feels like the teachers are more in control and are putting the work in rather than emphasising what parents need to do and there just seems to be more time.”

"When we get home all of my Year 7 child's homework is done and he will have played sport as well as had three outdoor break times. As soon as we walk through the door, the children can relax and switch off and this had made the most monumental difference to all our lives."

Is Westbourne a boarding or day school?

We are both. Many families join us as day pupils, while others choose boarding, either full-time or flexibly, to fit around family life.

An Open Morning is a great opportunity to explore what might work best for your child.

What makes Westbourne different from other schools I might visit?

Visitors often comment on the confidence and kindness of our pupils, and the sense of energy across the school.

While you’ll see our facilities, what tends to stand out most is how they are used, whether that’s learning outdoors, leadership opportunities or the breadth of co-curricular life available to every child.

Can I visit if my child is very young?

Yes. Whether you’re considering Nursery or looking further ahead, visiting early gives you a helpful sense of the journey your child could take through the school.
