Having begun my own education at Westbourne House in the Pre-Prep, and then as one of the first girls to attend the Prep School, it was a real delight to return as Head of History in September 2021.
Previously, I taught history from Year 7 to A Level at Harrogate Grammar School, and then moved to St Peter’s School, York, where I was a Year 5 class teacher and then Head of History.
I believe that a history education is a wonderful thing! Sparking curiosity and a love of learning about the past, as well as giving pupils the opportunity to think critically, to make judgements about what they find and to ask thoughtful questions, history provides many essential skills for children growing up in society today. It is a fantastic subject to teach and I feel very lucky to have returned to Westbourne House where my own love of the subject first began – and where history really is all around us!
