Year 7 photography trip

Photographing sculptures at West Wittering beach

Our specialist art teachers took Year 7 to the beach for a photography session. Each child took the 3D shell they had sculpted out of Modroc, with a view to using the beach and coast as the backdrop for their photos.

Mrs Jeram, Head of Art, encouraged pupils to experiment with perspective, props, scale, angles and depth of field. The use of shadow and light, different textures, reflections and the various items they found on the beach made for some amazing work.

Their creative ideas ranged from photographing their shell mid-air, to dressing their shells up in hats and sunglasses, to creating a mini-beach scene on the groynes, to holding their shell with their own shadows.

Some photographs featured special guests, such as birds flying in the sky and dogs on their morning stroll - no opportunity was missed.
