Unforgettable woodland adventure

"Wow! Our Terrific Trees trip to Seeley Copse at Goodwood was an unforgettable woodland adventure in the stunning autumn sunshine," said Year 3 teacher, Mrs Pitman.

"Guided by the amazing Anne and Paul, Year 3 displayed boundless curiosity and enthusiasm, exploring the semi-ancient woodland with keen observational skills."

Our Year 3 pupils uncovered woodland treasures and discovered signs of forest creatures including badgers, bats, foxes, deer and birds of prey.

There was impressive teamwork in the den-building activity (and all of this before midday!). All dens needed a doorway for their furry inhabitants and had to withstand a rainstorm (from a trusty watering can). There were only a few wet casualties!

After we had devoured  a delicious and healthy lunch, the children played a huge game of lambs and wolves, which they absolutely loved. A carousel of engaging activities followed, they excelled in leaf printing, natural painting and crafting bird feeders from pine cones, lard and seed. Break time was spent bug hunting, exploring the copse further and enjoying the mud kitchen.

The day joyously concluded with sticky smores, hot chocolate and cheerful singing around the campfire. We put out the embers and each child shared a reflective moment about what they had enjoyed and learnt.

"Clearly, this experience has deepened the children's understanding and appreciation of the natural world. The amazing attitudes and excellent behaviour of all of the children really shone throughout the day, making their teachers and themselves incredibly proud. What a lovely day, Year 3!"
