Thriving outside of school

These stories celebrate pupils who are doing exciting things outside of school.

NKC Karting Cup

One of our pupils recently competed in the 2nd round of the National Karting Cup at Rowrah Karting Circuit, racing high-performance petrol-powered karts capable of impressive speed and precision handling.

Reaching this level demands exceptional focus, race craft and technical skill, alongside the courage and consistency to perform under pressure.

This was round two out of size, and he already took home a second place. There is a long way to go, but the future looks very promising.  We were so impressed with his poise in front of the camera. Well done Oscar.

Chichester Festival of Music, Dance and Speech

Five of our pupils recently achieved outstanding success at the Chichester Festival of Music, Dance and Speech, showcasing their talents across a range of disciplines. We appreciate their dedication and creative skills, as well as the ability to perform with poise under pressure.

Huge congratulations to Luna, Daisy, Phoebe, Philip and Tymek, who received many golds and silvers between them.

Representing Great Britain in Sailing

One of our pupils recently delivered an outstanding performance in challenging conditions, earning selection for the International Optimist Class Association (IOCA) Junior Team to represent Great Britain at the 2026 French National Championships in Quiberon. Competing at this level demands resilience, tactical awareness and exceptional boat-handling skills, making this a superb and well-deserved achievement.

Taking to the stage

It is always exciting to watch our current pupils, and Old Westbournians, on the stage outside of school. Performing requires confidence, commitment and our pupils have captivated audiences, reflecting both their talent and dedication.

Congratulations to Toba and Cyrus for their respective performances in Oliver! and The Boy Called Christmas.

You'll be able to see Cyrus again soon in Joseph & The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, an Imagine That production.

Year 7 teacher, Mrs Sleep and our Head of English, Miss Williams, took our Year 7 pupils to London to see Toba in the West End. Mrs Sleep said: “There was no way we were going to miss seeing Toba in action on stage! He is such an inspiration to all his friends; he has a very busy school life but then, even busier weekends, performing to sell-out crowds at the Gielgud Theatre - and he always gets his work done! Huge congratulations, Toba."
