Team work brings magic to Mary Poppins

Our Year 8 pupils were challenged as a team like never before! They were tasked with the exciting project of staging Mary Poppins, the full-scale musical, in the two weeks between exams and their final Gold Westbourne Award trip to Dartmoor!

The Year 8s were stars to work with, approaching the demanding project with commendable energy, humour and motivation. The roles they played to pull off this feat were  diverse from control box operations, set building, costume support to even starring as a tumultuous honeybee.

The pupils did exceptionally well to perform a matinee in the afternoon to pupils and parents and then reset almost immediately for their final show to their families. Special praise must go to Amelia L for her scintillating performance as Mary Poppins that showcased her extraordinary levels of character research, captivating singing voice and dazzling stage presence.

From riotous chimney sweep dances to high jinks in the nursery, this electric-paced show was a very colourful evening of Disney entertainment. Well done Year 8 - what an incredible finale.
