Congratulation to Old Westbournian author Lucy Foley, whose latest novel sees her take on one of the most famous detectives in literary history.
Lucy was chosen by the Agatha Christie estate to write the first full-length Miss Marple novel in 50 years.
Murder at the Grand Alpine Hotel, which was published on 22 September, transports Christie’s much-loved amateur sleuth to a glamorous hotel in the Swiss Alps, where a murder leaves the guests snowbound and Miss Marple on the case.
Rather than attempting to imitate Christie, Lucy was given the freedom to bring her own style to the iconic character.
Drawing on Christie’s original novels while adding her trademark atmospheric, twist-filled storytelling, she has created a fresh Miss Marple mystery for a new generation of readers.
Hugest congratulations to Lucy.
