Nursery News - May 2020

Lots of the children have been working hard with their phonics this term. The sounds the children covered in the last few weeks with Mrs Burnand and parents were the letters j, v, y and w.

The children's topic this term is ‘Under the Sea’.  The children have had fun listening to the story of the ‘Clumsy Crab’ and making their own handprint crab pictures, finding out facts about whales and making sea creature shadow puppets!

In Deaf Awareness Week, Mrs Lewis read the children the story 'What the Jackdaw Saw' by Julia Donaldson.  As one parent commented: "Ted and Lily very much enjoyed this story and now want to learn how to sign their names!"

The children who have received WOWs in Nursery this half term have been:

  • Edward Donald (Mr Hard Working)
  • Matty Moyler (Mr Hard Working)
  • Lily Lowe (Captain Linking)
  • William Penfold (Analysing Boy)
  • Erin Pentony (Master Empathetic)
  • Annabel Witney-Lagen (Captain Linking)
  • Amber Letts (Agile Woman)
  • Phoebe Cousens (Captain Linking)

Mr Hard Working, Captain Linking, Analysing Boy, Master Empathetic and Agile Women are all HPL (High Performance Learning) superheroes.  These children have demonstrated that they too can be like these superheroes in their work and play.

As you can see below, our nursery children had fun creating the tallest tower they could.
