There have been two very special new arrivals in our Nursery! Maple and Custard, the Guinea pigs, have already made themselves at home, much to the delight of our Head of Nursery and the children.
Having animals in Nursery is a wonderful experience for the children, giving them the opportunity to learn how to care for and look after others. The pupils will help prepare food, bathe Maple and Custard, clean them out and share them responsibly.
Jane Watson, Head of Nursery
"These everyday experiences provide valuable opportunities for the children to develop their confidence, independence and kindness, while also learning new words and vocabulary.
"They will be encouraged to observe Maple and Custard closely, ask questions and develop new knowledge as they discover more about caring for animals.
"In our Nursery & Pre-Prep, children build confidence by exploring, questioning and following their curiosity. Maple and Custard are a gentle part of this journey, offering comforting cuddles when little ones have the wobbles, while helping them to understand the importance of caring for others.
We look forward to watching our pupils throughout the year as they continue to grow in confidence, kindness and independence, with Maple and Custard becoming a much-loved part of Nursery life."
