Maths challenge

We love these pictures of our incredibly happy Year 6 Westbourne Maths quartet who headed to Windlesham House School and performed "brilliantly" against 23 other schools.

The pupils competed for 90 minutes non-stop over a range of maths tasks including algebra, number work and problem-solving.

Maths teacher Mr Allday said: "There were 46 pairs in total so collaboration was very important. The Westbourne pairs showed real teamwork: Ardra and Harry came 18th out of 46. Freddie and Hazel came 6th out of 46, a fantastic result."

Very well done to all four mathematicians.

Percentage Rises

As the nation debates percentage increases, our Year 8 pupils have been brainstorming their percentage knowledge in Maths this morning.

Using their meta-thinking skills the children discussed compound interest and the effect of percentage rises - we may be needing their advice!
