Isabella swims her way to the IAPS final

Isabella has just returned from the London Aquatic Centre having competed against the strongest butterfly swimmers in the country in the IAPS Swimming Finals.  Read how she got there and what happened next.

In February 2018, a selection of Westbourne House swimmers competed in the IAPS Swimming Regionals at Hurstpierpoint College and a number of personal bests were recorded that day. In order to get through to the final, swimmers would have to be placed in the top 20 for individual strokes or be one of the top 16 relay teams. We waited patiently as the results from the regional rounds were collated and after a couple of months we were delighted to learn that Isabella R had qualified as the 8th fastest girl in the U12 25m butterfly.

The finals were held at the London Aquatics Centre, which is where the Olympic swimmers competed back in 2012.

Issy performed well in the preliminary heats and got a personal best time of 15.11 seconds. This placed her as the 6th out of the 20 swimmers and earned her a spot in the final. The final was tense and Issy did incredibly well coming 5th.

Well done, Issy: you worked to continuously improve your swimming technique, were resilient under pressure and came 5th in the country.  This is truly a fantastic achievement!
