Inter-patrol digits of pi competition

Westbourne House School holds an annual competition to encourage pupils to learn more about pi

We had a truly super turnout for the annual Digits of Pi competition, held on the 14th March (3.14). Pi, in mathematics, the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Last year 40 pupils took part, remembering 730 digits between them – this year nearly 100 pupils took part with almost 1300 digits written down. Amazing!

Well done to everyone who made the effort to learn many of the digits of Pi and to earn points for their patrol.

  • 15 Otters remembered a total of 222 digits
  • 23 Owls remembered 332 digits
  • 27 Tigers remembered 336 digits
  • 31 Panthers remembered 403 digits

The patrol that won was the patrol who had the most pupils with an Agile mindset, those willing to have a go – well done to Panthers!

Top scorers in each year group:

  • Year 3 – Martha G (43) – also the Top Otter
  • Year 4 – Darcy G (54) – also the Top Tiger
  • Year 5 – Paloma A-D (28)
  • Year 6 – Henry M (43)
  • Year 7 – Ardra J (145) – matching last year’s winning total, so holding the school record! Also the Top Owl
  • Year 8 – Evie M (44) – but on a rethink managed 105 – also the Top Panther

Top in the school is Ardra – congratulations!

A special mention for pupils in Years 3 and 4 - well done for joining in the competition and doing your patrols proud.
