Using food technology to reinforce science in Year 3 and Year 4
At Westbourne House School, we are dedicated to ensuring that our pupils benefit from the expertise of our specialist teachers from their very first year at prep school. That is why our Year 3 and 4 pupils consolidated their science learning with a food technology lesson with Mrs Bonn, one of our specialist teachers.
“We are focusing in our lessons on some of the chemical changes which occur to food during a variety of cooking processes and how the states of matter (solid, liquid and gas) can change with the application of heat or cooling power.”

So, as well as completing a fun, interactive activity, our children reaffirm their learning from other subject areas, improve their independence and ability to follow instructions, and get a delicious treat to take home at the end!
