Creativity abounds in Year 5's unique show

Year 5 put on a series of short devised dramas for parents in the Millennium Hall. It was an experimental project with every single child performing on stage with total freedom. It was audacious, creative and, at times, out of this world!  Character design, plot, lighting, props, costume and music, in fact everything parents saw on show night was created entirely by the children themselves.

This production was the first ever Westbourne House play to be completely unscripted.  In November, the Year 5 pupils were put in twelve groups and given a theme: a bedroom where toys came to life, escaped and had an adventure. Using a location card they picked from a hat, they were given free rein to create their six-minute piece.  Thanks to some amazing teamwork, their play steadily came to life.

It was tremendous to see every pupil thrive in this amazing experiment.  Thank you to parents for helping with costumes, and to our parent helpers who helped with makeup.  Well done to Ludo who took 90% of this fabulous set of photos.

I wanted to be a wish-granting dinosaur and then we made up our play together based on a place we picked from a hat: ours was Disney World. After we had worked out the story and what we were going to say, we chose our sound effects, when the lights needed to black out and the pictures to be projected onto the back wall.
