Sharing the love of summer boarding
Littlehampton Beach
The boarders had a lovely day out to Littlehampton beach. Accompanied by Mr Cousens, they walked along the seashore and enjoyed delicious biscoff ice creams. Fuelled up and ready to go, the children visited the famous arcade with its giant 2p waterfall machines, teddy claw games and racing cars - always fun.
"We had a great time on the beach soaking up the sun before coming back to school to do some athletics games on the track. Well done to Oscar for getting his PB on the 100 meters and hurtling down the track as the next Usain Bolt!"
Mr Cousens, Head of Drama
The active fun did not stop there! Our boarders played tennis in the sunshine, before ending the day with a shopping trip to the popular shop, The Range.
Slip and slide
In some eyes, this is the best summer boarding night of the term. Following Mr Fisher’s announcement at the end of Sports Day that it was the perfect weather for 'slip and slide', the boarders’ excitement just grew and grew.
To quote everyone: “It was JUST the BEST!”
Thank you to Mr Fisher and all the boarding team for all your hard work to make it such a memorable and smiley night.
Boarders' BBQ
On the last Wednesday of term on a beautiful, balmy July evening, the boarders celebrated the end of the year and the last BBQ of the academic year!
Boundaries, sunshine, barbecue, ice cream van and then the much longed-for disco! The children danced, sang, did the conga, got up on stage and spoke into DJ Stewart's microphone, all while soaking up the lovely boarding atmosphere that they have been enjoying all year.
A big thank you to DJ Stewart for pumping out our favourite disco, dance classics and all our wonderful onsite boarding house team for making it a such a brilliant night to remember.
Making the most of every beautiful evening
Summer term means games in the garden! Nobody loves a board game more than the Pitmans, and this has definitely had an effect on their boarders! The girls had a wonderful time playing uno, bananagrams, spot it and other games, all accompanied by popcorn and fruit snacks! This is the perfect way to wind down with your friends after a long day at school.

Mr Jones's weekend of beach fun and museum exploration
It didn't happen often this term, but Saturday was very much a "stay indoors, keep warm" affair due to persistent rain. The children relaxed, read books, spoke to their families at home and enjoyed the cosy atmosphere of the boarding house. Mr Jones organised art activities and Daphne, Mr Jones's dog, snoozed through all of this excitement.
Sunday kicked off with a massive brunch, after which the boarders headed out to West Wittering beach. Armed with buckets and spades, the boarders immediately set about building sandcastles. Gonzalo was particularly eager to get into the sea, swimming for a remarkable 45 minutes. Oscar, finding the sea too cold, opted to layer up and sit and watch the world go by.
After retrieving Gonzalo, who at one point seemed to be making a beeline for Cowes on the Isle of Wight, it was ice creams all round. This seemed to magically revive those who had been feeling the chill!
We returned to school for a delicious Sunday lunch with all the trimmings, including a delightful treacle tart. For some of our of our fulltime boarders, this was their first taste of a treacle tart and it went down tremendously well!
To cap off the weekend, boarders headed to the Weald and Downland Living Museum. It was like stepping back in time and the boarders enjoyed seeing history in action and feeding the ducks (a real hit!).

Tangmere Aviation Museum
We took full advantage of the gorgeous weather and hosted some fire pit cooking and marshmallow toasting at The Dower House on Saturday. The sun shone all through Saturday and into Sunday morning.
There was so much going on this weekend: our Year 8 leavers got together for a leaving party, many of our boarders headed out for weekends with day pupils and one boarder went to a birthday party - which meant that one boarder - had Mr and Mrs Pitman and Mr Perry all to himself on Sunday!
Filled with Darren’s legendary breakfast, the four of them took a trip to Tangmere Aviation Museum. There was special event happening and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Open Cockpit’ experience. It was fascinating to see how the WWII spitfires, which we see regularly flying over our school, are piloted. A ‘Rolls Royce’ experience and ice creams finished a very informative and exciting morning.
Next, a trip into town on the 500 bus to the cinema, which cooled everyone down after the heat of the day.
With everyone back together on Sunday evening, the boarders made 'dampers’ bread on the fire pit, beautifully rounding off the last weekend of the year.
"It has been so much fun taking the boarders out at the weekend this year. They are always so appreciative and we all enjoy Darren’s roast dinner!"
