Boarding News- Easter Term 2023

We have had a fun-filled and busy Easter term in boarding over the past few months, for both part-time and full-time boarders!

Our mid-week boarding activities have included an impromptu bin bag fashion show. The children produced some impressive designs, and enjoyed proudly strutting their stuff across the well-renowned Millennium Hall Catwalk. Paris fashion week, here we come! Evenings have also been occupied by some very nerve-wracking and competitive Jenga playing, pebble painting, kahoot quizes and cat's cradle fun.

Boarding weekends saw the children take a trip to the 'The Real Escape' in Portsmouth. Competition was rife to see if our junior team would escape 'the chamber of the deep', before our senior team (Years 7-8) managed to breakout of 'the Ryddle's memories'... rumour has it a promise from Mr Dichmont of extra tuck to any member of his junior team (Years 4-6) who managed to find the final clue may have contributed to their win! The children also went on outings to the Exploria trampoline park and the bowling alley.

With the weather finally beginning to turn, our boarders enjoyed some refreshing time outdoors including a walk around Chichester Marina and a trip to the seafront with Mrs Jeram.

Miss Day ran an exciting scavenger hunt around Chichester. She said: "The boarders had to find items which began with each letter from the alphabet. The teams were split Miss Van Holland with the junior team and I was with the seniors." Competitive as ever, the scavenger hunt was won by the junior team! The junior vs senior competitions continued with a Wii bowling competition and the tallest free-standing lego tower. There will be a rematch next term.

"Saturday afternoon the boarders took a trip to the seafront and play park, the fresh air was a little chilly, but it didn’t stop the children having fun in the park. Sunday morning, the boarders went on a little shopping trip to Chichester town centre; then after a hearty roast dinner we headed off to Southsea where the children managed to sneak in a hot chocolate in the D-Day museum cafe. Then the energetic fun began with a two-hour trampoline and soft play experience at Exploria. Lots of singing took place on the minibus and even a few school hymns were sung at the top of their voices. All in all, a wonderful but busy weekend."
