Bedtime storytelling extravaganza

Year 4 blew us away with their interactive 'Bedtime Stories' performance, complete with dance, karaoke and engaging storytelling.

The audience were treated to six stories from ‘Room on the Broom’ to ‘Stick Man’ and ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’ (to name a few) all beautifully told by a narration team who worked seamlessly with the story’s actors. This must have been incredibly hard to accomplish, but they pulled it off without a hesitation to the flow and with wonderful expression in their delivery. The timing, transitions and teamwork were all absolutely spot on and the actors were amazingly adept at bringing the characters to life. Each story had an immersive experience with the audience encouraged to groove along, which wasn’t hard thanks to, quite possibly, the best soundtrack including Techno Chicken!

The show was designed with the Pre-Prep audience in mind and Year 4 put on a special matinee performance to their Pre-Prep friends.  The younger children came aptly dressed in their pyjamas, with teddies in hand, before expertly joining in with all the dances (Frozen was of course a highlight), and listening intently to the stories.

The evening audience of parents, grandparents and friends equally loved the experience.

“The children exuded such confidence. Their enjoyment and sense of fun was contagious and they completely energised the audience."

Mr Fisher, Deputy Head

Hats off to our Head of Drama, Mr Cousens, for this new, unique and sometimes surprising show, which gave each child the chance to narrate and act. A big thank you to our two Year 8 pupils in the control box crew, who threw themselves into the project, and the Year 4 teaching team and brilliant Year 4 parents for the fabulous costumes.
