Sarah Cameron-West's remarkable show

West End writer and actor grew her love of the stage at Westbourne House School

Congratulations to Old Westbournian, Sarah Cameron-West (Cameron), whose remarkable, one-woman show brought London’s West End to its feet this week.

Our Head of Drama, Ed Cousens, was there for the opening night. He said: “It was a privilege for me to be there tonight, alongside Sarah’s parents and other Westbourne friends including Tati Reed OW 2016, to support Sarah’s London West End debut, Karen.

“Sarah secured a standing ovation for her remarkable performance, creating several characters in an exploration of relationships that dared to play with multiple genres - a risk only the finest actors and writers can pull off. Sarah is a once in a generation talent who had the audience in the palm of her hand with a performance laced with mesmeric unpredictability and rawness.

“The audience felt exhausted by the end, having experienced goosebumps from her streaming desperate real tears of pain, yet also filling the theatre with riotous laugher from her classy observations on friendships when they matter most.

“Sarah auditioned for a Westbourne House musical, Fiddler on the Roof, in 2009. She secured the lead role, Golde, and exhibited her raw and natural gift for acting.

“Congratulations to Sarah, who told me in Year 7, she was going to be an actor,” Mr Cousens added.
