Workshop with guest artist Shazia Mahmood

“Don’t be afraid to make mistakes”

“Don’t be afraid,” our visiting sea and landscape artist, Shazia Mahmood, told our Year 7 art scholars as they painted sunset and ocean scenes together.

“We’ve learnt so much – it was fascinating,” the children said after their three-hour guided workshop.

Shazia is our current guest artist, whose paintings are exhibited in our Art Studio and inspire pupils daily.

Head of Art, Mrs Jeram, said: “It was so lovely to see the children fully immersed in art and working alongside a professional artist. They literally glowed with pride as Shazia encouraged them and complemented them on their work. They learnt so much from this experience.”

“I’m just so impressed by the level of commitment and ability these students already have. They are so receptive to trying new things and so lovely and engaging to work with, it made my job really easy.”

“With their positive, ‘don’t give up – keep going’ attitude, they are going to achieve,” Shazia affirmed.

Coffee morning

Mrs Jeram welcomed Shazia and our parents to view both the marvellous creations of the Year 7 art scholars and Shazia's artwork. This was a brilliant opportunity for parents to come together and ask questions about our art department, all over a cup of coffee and a croissant.
