Wood crafting skills at Forest School

Year 2 have had a wonderful time at Forest School this term. They have made fairy fires, tracked badgers, climbed and hugged trees and cooked pancakes and porridge over the fire. They have loved exploring the forest. From spotting wildlife to den building, there is never a shortage of things to do!

The skills of stick and holly whittling were on the agenda and they also learnt how to use a palm drill to create wood discs (palm drills are perfect tools for introducing children to the art of drilling).

Our term culminated with lunch in the forest followed by a big forest clear up which the children attacked with alacrity.
