Drama and Music scholars theatre trip to see Hamilton

Our 15 Drama and Music scholars were whisked off to Southampton to see Hamilton at The Mayflower Theatre.

"It was amazing to watch the show in a packed theatre. The atmosphere was incredible. It made me want to get up on stage!"

Year 8 pupil

The musical tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, a visionary who rose through the ranks in the military to become one of the Founding Fathers, and America’s Treasury Secretary under President George Washington.

"The children have all worked very hard over the last few months, which culminated in every pupil who auditioned at their senior school winning an award or scholarship. This was a well-deserved treat! We were very lucky to secure the last few remaining tickets: the show has had a sold-out run in Southampton."

Mr Allum, Assistant Director of Music

The brilliant music combines rap, R&B, soul and a number of other genres and is a real work of genius by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The street dance elements were spell-binding and the pupils were enthralled from start to finish.
