Westbourne Choir goes to Edinburgh

The Westbourne House Chapel Choir have returned from a successful trip to Scotland. Our choristers travelled far from home and had a fantastic time touring Edinburgh, singing in the most stunning locations. This was their first choir tour since 2019. Alex Dichmont, Director of Music at Westbourne House, said: "given the lack of opportunity to perform to live audiences in recent years, it was wonderful to welcome so many friends and families to our concerts."

The Choir arrived to the sound of bagpipes filling the air, a proper Scottish welcome! They began their musical journey in the gorgeous St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral in Palmerston Place. The children commented that the acoustics there were "magical". Their second venue was St Mary’s Church in Haddington and they ended their tour with a fantastic finale on the Royal Mile at St Giles Cathedral. This last concert brought the largest audience, even pulling in many tourists who were compelled to stop and listen.

As well as singing, the children also enjoyed fun day trips out. A real highlight was a visit to the Camera Obscura & World of Illusions and seeing the breathtaking view of Edinburgh from the Outlook Tower.

Needless to say this has been a very special trip and a huge congratulations to the children, who sang so beautifully and were a great credit to us all at Westbourne House School.
