Rhythmic performance during World Music Workshops

We were pleased to welcome world music tutor Jim Bernadin back to Westbourne House for the annual World Music Workshops. Jim has a brilliant way of communicating music to children and this year he introduced the music of India and China to Years 3 - 5, playing instruments from the region and hearing stories of Chinese New Year and the Indian festival of Holi. Years 3 and 4 were excited to showcase what they had learned in a concert for parents at the end of the day.

These workshops are a fantastic example of how a whole year group can work together to create a performance in just a few minutes. Honing their listening skills, the children were able to hear how various different rhythms fitted together, and it was great to see the concentration on their faces, everyone eager to play their part correctly!
