Plastic-Free Picnic highlights sustainability

Our Pre-Prep children and pupils in Years 3 to 6 are having a ‘plastic-free picnic’ on Friday.

The Pre-Prep children have been working towards achieving the bronze and silver ‘Eco-School’ status for the past two years.

All year groups have prepared for this challenge during lesson time, where we discussed the use of plastic packaging and talked about how we might choose items for a picnic that do not include single-use plastic.

We asked parents to encourage their children to make their own picnic choices and help them to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

Here's a short film about the alternatives for cling film.

If you and your children keen, you can make your own bees wax wrap for sandwiches and to cover bowls in the fridge.

Eco-Schools is a global programme engaging millions of children across 64 different countries, making it the largest environmental schools programme in the world.

The programme provides a framework for learning and action around ten topics – marine, biodiversity, energy, litter, global citizenship, healthy living, school grounds, transport, waste and water.
