OW pupil and parent Rick Wates receives OBE

On 7 December, the Duke and Duchesse of Cambridge awarded medals to an array of incredible people in the final Investiture of the year, including a number of individuals that have gone above and beyond to support communities during this incredibly challenging year for the nation.

One of those honoured was former pupil and former parent - OBE Mr Richard Wates for charitable services to children and young people with disabilities in relation to his work with several charities.

Rick Wates volunteers for Providing Support for Children with Down's Syndrome (PSDS) and Parents and Carers Support Organisation (PACSO).

Rick Wates is also a trustee of the William Wates Memorial Trust which encourages young people experiencing severe disadvantage to keep away from anti-social behaviour and criminal activity, enabling them to fulfil their potential.
