Zoolab brought some special guests to school
Our Pre-Prep children had a wonderful visit from Sam from Zoolab, a company which provides ethical animal encounter experiences.
“Madagascan Cockroach, Cally, has six legs. She has two brains - one in her head and one in her bottom,” Sam told our nursery children. “Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!” the children said in unison!
Q: “Can that tarantula make a cobweb?” one of our nursery pupils asked as Tilly the curly-haired tarantula from the Amazon was introduced to the class.
A: “They do spin webs but only to wrap their eggs,” Sam replied.
They were joined by Shelley, the Giant African Land Snail, Millie, the Giant African Millipede and Pumpkin, the Corn snake who has 15,000 muscles in his body (which is quite incredible when you consider that a human only has 800).
The children stroked the minibeasts, asking lots of questions and engaging with the activity. Some children even let the animals wriggle or crawl along their hands. What an exciting way to start the day!
