The story of Little Red Riding Hood proved a very popular introduction to the Reception topic Once Upon A time and inspired the children to produce some ‘Oscar-winning’ performances when they re-enacted it.
They have thoroughly enjoyed the well-loved fairy tale and, as well as following clues to track Little Red Riding Hood’s journey to Grandma’s cottage, they used paint and pastels to create the most delightful portraits of the characters. The story also provided an excellent opportunity to discuss ‘Stranger Danger’ during circle time.
Of course, every Grandma who is poorly needs cakes and the children helped to make her some delicious flapjacks. A wonderful, tasty way to explore how ingredients change when they are cooked.
