Nursery and Pre-Prep Sports Day

The Early Years sports day was a resounding success again this year and it was a joy to see the children’s smiling faces as they participated in the team events and the flat races. They all did so well, especially in the tricky  egg and spoon and beanbag on a plate races. They were delighted when they rewarded with stickers and of course a medal.

After the family picnic, it was time for the Year 1 and 2 sports day.  It is a very exciting occasion and the children are always keen to show their sporting skills having worked hard to prepare for the event.

This year, the afternoon began with a colourful parade of dance and music, culminating in the children taking their places in their colour teams waiting for the off.

The sporting events are always a mixture of team and individual races, with the emphasis on taking part and having fun. We began with an obstacle race, followed by a series of running, throwing and catching races.  The slow water relay is always fun and everyone waits for Mr Smith to measure the amount of water in the bucket before announcing the winning team. We ended the afternoon with a toddler dash and parents egg and spoon races.

The weather was bright and sunny and the atmosphere was loud and exciting. We can’t wait for next year and the practising has already started!
