Musical and artistic wonders inspire

Musical and artistic wonders awaited Year 5 on their trip to London last week.

The first port of call was the Royal Festival Hall, where the children were treated to a performance by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.  The orchestra played Benjamin Britten’s ‘Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra’, which was composed to show off the tone and capacities of the various sections of the orchestra. The packed concert hall also took part in a song - ‘Heave Ho’ - accompanied by the orchestra.

A short walk along the South Bank for a picnic lunch saw the children take in sights such as St Paul’s Cathedral and The Shard. A treasure hunt around several galleries in the Tate Modern followed, with the children tasked with finding several famous works. A good day was had by all!
