Leadership opportunity for Year 8

Leadership practice in action as our Year 8 pupils take on The Gr8 Play Date challenge.

Teams of Year 8 pupils were asked to run fun, enriching activities during breaktime for small groups of Juniors (Years 3 and 4). The idea is to practise leadership skills and to build closer friendships across the years.

"Year 8, this is your chance to lead. Some things might go wrong and actually that's quite useful... your job is to think on your feet and find solutions to the problems, look for different tactics and strategies to make it work and make it fun."

Mr Cousens, Head of Drama

The Year 8 pupils planned a range of brilliant activities, such as making smoothies, science experiments including gloopy oobleck, footgolf in the woods, laser tag, an Escape Room, footgolf, and a made up game called Rugball, which combined rugby and netball!

The Gr8 Play Date occurred over two days, which allowed the Year 8 pupils to use feedback from the younger children after the first session to change and tweak their playdates ready for the second delivery.
