Language trips to Spain and France

Year 7 & 8 embrace culture and test their language skills on trips to Granada and Paris

Passion is essential when learning a new language and our Year 7 and 8 pupils have this in spades, said Mrs Perkins, French teacher.

The children explored their passions in a five-day language trip to Granada for one group and Paris for the other. The trips were perfect preparation as they launch into their more advanced language in Years 7 and 8, including scholarship courses.

From baking baguettes in a traditional French boulangerie to flamenco dancing and exploring mountain-side caves close to the Alhambra, our language trips are designed to immerse our pupils in the language as well as giving them a chance to practise their skills. “I believe very passionately that it's all about not being afraid to have a go!” Mrs Perkins added.

And they certainly did! We heard great things each day from both trips.

"Year 7 had their turn at dancing flamenco - well done to Betty, Tymek, Val, Isaac D and Chloe who were crowned best dancers for their flare, characterisation and mastering the steps! Year 8 shopped in San Agustín market and explored the centre before we all headed up to the Alhambra."

A huge thank you to our incredible, dedicated staff team led by Mrs Sleep in Spain and Mr Dichmont in France, who made the trips happen and took the pupils on such wonderful journeys to enhance their learning.

"We’ve been to a French bakery where we made baguettes and croissants. The entire experience was conducted in French and the children did an amazing job of listening. We are now in Montmartre enjoying the sights."
