IAPS National Swimming Finals

Last week, Issy travelled to the London Aquatics centre to compete in the IAPS national swimming finals. Only the top 20 swimmers in the county made it through to the final.

The excitement began even before the swimming had started when Issy stumbled upon the double world champion and Olympic bronze medal GB diver, Tom Daley!

It was then time for her to swim. During the U13 25m butterfly heats she swam well and came 3rd in her heat with a PB of 14.78 seconds. After the 2nd heat was completed we found out that she had qualified to swim again in the final (top 10 swimmers) and was the 7th fastest qualifier.

The final was tense but Issy performed well again and achieved another personal best with a time of 14.74 seconds and finished in 7th place. There was less than a second between her and 1st place!

WELL DONE! Westbourne House will be sad to say goodbye to Issy, whose positive attitude, resilience and perseverance creates much success for her as a swimmer.  We wish her all the best at her senior school next year!
