Bookmark and Slogan Competition

Back at the start of term, we launched the Westbourne House 'bookmark and reading slogan competition' across the whole school. Children were asked to design a bookmark or submit a slogan that centres around reading. The competition was a huge success with entries from all ages, and we were particularly delighted that every Pre-Prep child entered both a bookmark and slogan.

From all the entries, we narrowed it down to six entries before selecting the winners in both the bookmark and reading slogan categories.

The winning design was by Ammie K in Year 2 for her 'Lady of Shalott' design (left-hand side below) and the winning slogan was Evie R in Year 6 for 'Read, Believe, Achieve' (bottom middle below). The runners up in the Prep School were Zubin C for his design and Baz B for his slogan. In the Pre-Prep the runners up were Magnus N in Year 1 for his bookmark design and Jonty L in Year 1 for his slogan.

The winners were celebrated in a whole school assembly and given a book token.

From the winning design and reading slogan, we have created a brilliant bookmark, which is shortly to be printed and every child in the school will be given one!  We are also printing posters with the winning and runner up designs and slogans to display around school. Bookmarks and posters will be ready after half term.

It has been a fantastic whole school competition and will become an annual event.
