Be Your Best and Online Learning

Teachers across the school have been reporting exceptional work from pupils of all ages.  Here are a few snippets from the academic team.

Fabulous French

Mrs Sleep was delighted to receive this perfect piece of French writing.  From the Pre-Prep we teach that mistakes are magical because they give you the opportunity to learn. Although this is perfect, there would have been many mistakes made to get to this point.  This student demonstrated some excellent realising skills, which allow you to reach the point where the learning is automatic and accurate, and analysing skills, which ensured his work was thoroughly checked.

Sumptuous Spanish Feasts

Look at the photos (and menu) of these two wonderful feasts, both inspired by Spanish lessons. The first came about after a Year 5 lesson on Cinco de Mayo.  With her family, this pupil celebrated the Mexican army's triumph over France in 1862 by cooking a Mexican feast. Then came another menu for a fabulous Spanish tapas feast on 15 de Mayo.  It is wonderful to see learning coming to life at home.

We also enjoyed this video from a Year 5 pupil, who has had just two Spanish lessons.  We praise the practice she has put in which has enabled her to pronounce the alphabet so well.

Basic trigonometry

Having learnt some basic trigonometry, Charlie was given the task of using the tan function on his calculator along with a number of measurements to calculate the height of an object in his garden. His set were instructed on how to construct a “clinometer” and with a few details, and accurate workings, Charlie swiftly and efficiently found the tree’s height. Charlie proved to work creatively, accurately and produced a great piece of work supported by an excellent diagram.
