Year 3 uncover and explore the treasures of a semi-ancient woodland
We were so impressed by our Year 3 pupils' curiosity and enthusiasm during their day trip exploring the semi-ancient woodland at Seeley Copse, Goodwood.
Under the guidance of the Goodwood Education Trust, our Year 3 pupils were encouraged to use their observational skills to uncovered woodland treasures and discover signs of forest creatures. The den-building activity was great fun and they worked really well in small teams.
In the afternoon, the children poured their creativity into natural paintings and leaf printing, and made bird feeders from pinecones, lard and seed with the wonderful guides. Break time was spent bug hunting. The day came to a joyful end with sticky s'mores, hot chocolate and cheerful singing around the campfire.
As they helped put out the fire with a cup of water each, the children shared a reflective moment about what they had enjoyed and learnt.
“Clearly, this unforgettable Terrific Trees adventure has deepened their understanding and appreciation of the natural world. The amazing attitudes of all the children really shone throughout the day; they did themselves proud and made us incredibly proud in the process. What a lovely day, Year 3!”
