Shopwyke Singers 25th Anniversary Celebration

Sunday 23rd June
-

In June 1994, Westbourne House parents and staff came together for the inaugural concert of the Shopwyke Singers (Shopwyke Singers), a community choir which now celebrates its 25th anniversary. The choir still rehearses at Westbourne House and has a few staff and parents amongst it number, but membership has now widened to include any interested singers.

To celebrate this special anniversary we are holding a “Come and Sing” event at school on Sunday June 23rd, where we will be rehearsing and performing Mozart’s “Coronation” Mass (which we sang at our inaugural concert) and Rutter’s collection of folksong arrangements “The Sprig of Thyme”. Singers wishing to participate will have a rehearsal at 4.00pm, followed by a hog roast at 6.00, and an informal concert at 7.30. Non-singers are also very welcome to come to just the hog roast and/or the concert.

BOOK TICKETS: Please book your places or call 01243 572322

A ticket price of £10 is asked to help cover expenses. Music will be provided.

It would be excellent to have more parents involved in the choir again. We are a very friendly bunch who meet every Tuesday evening during term-time to prepare for two or three concerts a year, usually in Boxgrove Priory. I do hope that you will join us on June 23rd for what promises to be an enjoyable afternoon and evening, and that the experience persuades you to be come a member of the choir next term. Participants in the “Come and Sing” are also most welcome to come to any of our rehearsals leading up to the event, which will be on the 4th, 11th and 18th of June.
