Westbourne House School

Admissions Process

When an interested parent makes contact with the School we immediately despatch a prospectus and other introductory information.  A visit to the School generally follows when the Headmaster will spend two hours or more with parents talking about their child's prep school education and giving a tour of the School.  Visits take place either on week-days or Saturday mornings when parents can see the School in action.  After the visit the registration form may be returned to the School together with a non refundable registration fee of £50.  Pupils joining the Main School from the Pre-Prep will not be required to pay a further registration fee.

Parents will be asked to confirm their offer of a place in the October prior to arrival the following September.  A deposit is then required to reserve this place.  This deposit will not be refunded if this place is not taken up.  It will be credited against the pupil’s first termly account.

Boys and girls are generally accepted into the Main School at the beginning of the academic year following their 7th birthday.  They may choose to enter as boarders or as day pupils.  Older pupils can also be accepted provided places are available higher up the School.  The Pre-Prep generally accept children into their Pre-Nursery at the beginning of the term in which their 3rd birthday falls and all children transfer to our Nursery class in the September following their 3rd birthday.  Children can join Reception in the September following their 4th birthday.

Prospective pupils entering into the Main School are asked to sit straightforward assessment tests in Mathematics and English.  These are usually held in the February prior to a September entry.  Although Pre-Prep children are not assessed into Nursery and Reception, they are from Year 1 onwards.

Fees are payable in advance and must be received by the first day of term.  A full term's notice must be given prior to the removal of a child from the School, otherwise a full term's fees in lieu of notice will be charged.  "Extras" are kept to a minimum and include those activities not included within the established curriculum, such as individual music lessons.
